Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 September 2026

About these terms

These terms describe how StiveWebStudio works with clients. Where a specific written project agreement or quote is agreed for your project, that agreement takes precedence over anything here. We may update these terms from time to time — the version in force on the date of your written quote applies to your project, and the current version is always posted on this page with its last-updated date.

Our service

We design and build websites for local service businesses. Where analytics tooling is included, our default is a privacy-friendly, cookieless option that doesn't need a cookie banner. If you'd rather use a different analytics tool, any resulting consent requirements would be agreed with you in writing.

The free homepage preview

The free homepage preview is a non-binding design concept. It is provided free of charge and with no obligation on either side. We retain all rights in an unpaid preview — it stays ours until you go ahead with the project, at which point it becomes part of what you own.

Quotes and pricing

Projects are quoted individually as a one-time fee, agreed in writing before any work begins. There is no monthly agency fee.

Payment

Payment is made after you approve your homepage preview and before we build and launch the full website, as set out in your written quote.

Refunds

If you cancel after payment and before launch, we refund the balance of the fee less the work already completed, calculated against the stages set out in your written quote.

VAT

Quotes state whether VAT is included and, for business customers outside the UK, whether the reverse charge applies.

What we need from you

We need accurate business details, any content and images you have the right to use, and timely feedback during the project. Delays in supplying content will move the project timeline.

Confidentiality

We treat the business details, content and images you share with us as confidential, and use them only to deliver your project. We won't disclose them to third parties except where necessary to provide the service (for example, to a hosting or domain provider) or where required by law.

Timelines

Most small-business websites are completed in approximately 3–7 working days once all required content has been received. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Larger projects take longer, and we will always confirm the expected timeline in writing before you pay.

Revisions

One revision round is included in every project. Further revision rounds, or changes requested after launch, may be quoted separately.

Ownership

Once your project is paid in full, the delivered website files and your own content are yours. Any third-party components used in the build remain under their own licences. We will only show your project in our portfolio if you give us written permission.

Domain and hosting

Your domain and hosting are registered in your name. Provider costs for these are paid by you directly and are not part of the project fee.

Support

We provide seven days of post-launch technical support for faults in what we built. This excludes new features and content changes, which can be arranged separately.

Warranties

We build your website with reasonable skill and care, but we don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every browser, device or third-party service. Any third-party tools used on your site, such as analytics, are provided subject to that provider's own terms and availability.

Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for a project is capped at the fees you have paid for it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Cancellation

Either party may cancel a project before payment is made, at no cost. After payment, see Refunds above.

Governing law

Unless your written project agreement says otherwise, these terms and any project are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
